Shops, offices and units around the Broadway
The Broadway and the streets off it are packed with shops, restaurants, offices and service businesses, and those premises take a lot of wear. Shop fronts face the weather and passing footfall, sales floors get scuffed by trolleys and customers, and offices above shops have often not been touched in years.
Commercial work comes first for us. We paint shop fronts and interiors, offices, stockrooms, staff areas and small units, and we plan each job so the business can keep running as normally as possible.
Anti-vandal and hard-wearing coatings for exposed frontages
On a busy shopping street, some surfaces get far more abuse than others. Stall risers, roller shutters, side walls and rear entrances can attract graffiti, flyposting and knocks. Anti-vandal coatings are made for these exposed areas and can make them easier to clean and look after.
We look at which parts of the building are taking the worst of it, then suggest where a tougher coating is worthwhile and where a standard hard-wearing exterior paint will do. Inside, washable finishes along corridors, around counters and in toilets keep spaces presentable for longer.
Bexleyheath homes
Away from the town centre, Bexleyheath is largely made up of inter-war semis and terraced streets, with some later houses mixed in. Inside, these homes often need hallways, stairs and landings brightening up. Outside, fascias, windows and rendered walls need attention once the old paint starts to fade and flake.
We decorate homes from top to bottom, inside and out, with the same care over preparation that goes into our commercial jobs.
Spraying or brush and roller: choosing the method
There is no single best method. Airless spraying is quick and even on large walls, ceilings and fences once masking is in place. HVLP spraying suits doors, cabinets, shop fittings and other smaller items that need a fine finish. Brush and roller remains the right choice for many rooms, especially where there is a lot to protect or only small areas to paint.
For a shop or office, spraying can shorten the time an area is closed. In an occupied home, brush and roller is often more practical. We recommend a method for each part of your job and explain why.
Back of house, rentals and communal areas
It is not only the shop floor that matters. Stockrooms, staff kitchens, stairways to upper floors and rear corridors are often forgotten until they look tired, and they are usually where marks and knocks build up. These areas can be painted at the same time as the customer-facing space, or treated as a separate job once trading allows.
Flats above shops and rented houses around the town need attention between tenancies, and shared entrances in small blocks take daily wear. This kind of work comes under our property maintenance service, using practical, wipeable finishes chosen to last between visits.
Planning work from Swanley
Our base in Swanley is close to Bexleyheath, Sidcup and Dartford, all well within the 40 miles we travel. For commercial work, the first visit covers the areas to be painted, your trading or office hours and any times we cannot be on site.
Work can then be scheduled for quieter periods, in sections, or for evenings and weekends by arrangement. For homes, we agree a sequence that fits around your household.
Dust sheets, masking and clear signage are part of every commercial job, so customers and staff know which areas are closed and the rest of the premises stays clean. At the end of each session, work areas are tidied and left safe, which matters when a shop has to reopen the next morning. If you have a landlord or managing agent, it helps to check early whether they need notice of the work or have rules about colours on the frontage.
