Eric Purnell and Mode Decorating
Mode Decorating is owned by Eric Purnell and based in Swanley, Kent. The business has traded for 20 years. Office painting is our main service, alongside other commercial and domestic work. The photographs show examples of the spaces and techniques we discuss, not customer projects. Real job photographs will be added when available.
Painting and decorating for businesses and homes
Commercial interiors and exteriors, office painting and domestic interior and exterior decoration form the core work. Wallpapering, anti-vandal coatings and decorating-led property maintenance are also available. A room, business premises and an external item can require very different preparation, so the work is discussed against the actual surfaces. Tell Eric what needs painting and what condition it is in so you can discuss a quote for the work you need.
Traditional application and spraying
We offer traditional brush and roller painting as well as spraying. Airless spraying is available for ceilings, walls and fences. HVLP covers trim, woodwork, kitchens and garden furniture. That range allows the method to be discussed for the job rather than selected by a generic rule. Clearing, protection, existing finish and coating suitability all influence whether a technique is practical.
How Eric works
Most jobs start with a visit, so Eric can see the surfaces, talk through what you want and put together a quote. Before any paint goes on, the walls, ceilings and woodwork are prepared, which can mean filling, sanding and priming. Floors, furniture and fittings are covered and protected while the work is under way. When the job is finished, the area is tidied and Eric goes over the work with you before signing it off.
For offices and shops, the visit is a good time to mention opening hours, access and any building rules, so the work can be planned around them. At home, let Eric know which rooms you need to keep using, and the order of work can be talked through with you before it starts.
From enquiry to the agreed finish
Start with the postcode and a description of the property, rooms or items. A visit and quote can be discussed where appropriate. Preparation and protection are considered before application, with furniture, access and known surface problems identified. The proposed work should explain the work and any responsibilities. Discuss tidying and how the agreed work will be reviewed, alongside timing and the preparation needed.
Hours and the local area
Contact hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm; Saturday, 9am–2pm; Sunday, closed. Based in Swanley, we cover Kent and South East London and travel up to 40 miles for the right job. Telephone, email, WhatsApp and the quote form give alternative ways to make the first enquiry. Office managers and homeowners can both begin without a final colour scheme, provided the surfaces and practical requirements are explained.
